在我的字典裡，我把「在意」的英文歸為兩類：
1.conscious of/obsessed with/ bothered about
例：
女人更在意她們的容貌。Women are more ~ how they look.
並非只有他們才在意身高。They’re not the only ones ~ their height. 他不是那麼在意外表。He is not that ~ his appearance.
2.bothered about
例：我不在意他的想法。I’m not bothered about what he thinks.
有何不同？為什麼同樣是「在意」，bothered about可以分列在項目1 跟 2，其他的不行？
沒想過這些問題吧？這要經過長久的中英翻譯實務訓練，對英文字義有精確認知，才會有概念。
重點是：意思相同的英文用語，有可互換者，有不可互換者，也有在一語境可互換，在另一語境不能互換者，因此，我們必須根據1、2 項下的語例判斷其差異，才知為何bothered about 可用於1， 也可用於2，但1的conscious of跟obsessed with 不能用於2，這是翻譯必需有例句對照參考的原因。
