【對焦中英翻譯 】 get in on the act 的翻譯思辨(請耐心看完)

我說劍橋的定義不好，很多人不以為然，主要的原因，是他們沒經過比較，不知好的定義是甚麼，以get in on the act 為例，劍橋寫的是to take advantage of something that someone else started
前來分一杯羹；（為獲利）參與，插一手

We did all the hard work of setting up the company, and now everyone wants to get in on the act.
我們千辛萬苦創立了公司，現在誰都想來分一杯羹。

我想，大多數的英文專家達人都不會覺得這樣的說法有問題，先別下定論，看完別家的定義與例句再說：to become involved in something with someone else.

當然，沒有詳細的語境，光憑這簡單的定義 與例句要了解這句話的語意也不是那麼容易，那不妨再看一個例句:

Sales of ‘green’ products have increased dramatically and now a lot of manufacturers are trying to get in on the act.

還是不懂的話，我拿壓箱寶，給各位聞香：get in on the act (idiom) 跟進。 

Pistons coach Larry Brown got in on the act, too, venting his displeasure with sarcastic shouts. 活塞教練布朗也跟進，用尖酸的咆哮發洩他的不滿。

對不熟悉運動新聞的讀者，這個例句或許較難，但重點是get in on the act的語意，知道這句話的意思後，上面的問題都可迎刃而解，反過來說，中文的「難怪大家都想跟進」，英文就是Small wonder that everyone is trying to get in on the act. 

所以，學英文，何必捨近求遠，要相信劍橋，不看我的辭典？
