為什麼要學新聞英文？
因為，許多現代英文語詞，老舊字典無法正確說明，以致，本指「邊境首長」的border czar，硬是被說成「邊境沙皇」，避免因循守舊，翻譯weigh in on這種新用語，也不能引用舊定義「To join an ongoing discussion, debate, or competition」的說法，畢竟，最新的解說是：To give your thoughts or opinions on a subject。據此，我們可以很清楚地把 The president still hasn't weighed in on the issue 翻譯成「總統尚未對此議題提出看法」。其他語例，也都可照此定義翻譯，如：
1.表示看法
Biden weighs in on Trump impeachment. 拜登對川普彈劾案表示看法。
2.提出看法
The president still hasn't weighed in on the issue. 總統還沒對這項議題提出看法。
3.發表意見
Later on the show, he will weigh in on the debate. 節目稍後，他會對此辯論發表意見。
4. 提出意見
The President's political advisers also weighed in on the plan. 總統的政治顧問也對此計畫提出意見。
必須如此翻譯，才算是對英文語詞有正確的認知。
