很多人不知道這是不容易了解的一句話， 因為多數英文專家所做的翻譯都是有問題的， 如：
Honey, I have a bone to pick with you. I don’t mind you getting into the bathroom first in the morning, but do you have to be in there so long? You know, I have to get to work on time, too.「親愛的，我有一件事得向你抱怨了。我不在乎你每天早上先用洗澡間，但是，你有必要在裡面待那麼長時間嗎？你知道，我也得按時上班啊。」
Sally always criticizes me no matter what I wear. Last week, I put on the red dress I bought at Macy’s. Everyone said I looked great in that dress. The only person who had a bone to pick with me was Sally. She said the dress was too tight on me. That’s ridiculous!
「不管我穿什麼，莎莉總是會批評的。上星期，我穿了在梅西公司買的那件紅色連衣裙，每個人都說我穿了那件衣服非常好看。唯一挑毛病的人就是莎莉，她說，那件衣服我穿了太小。這簡直是可笑！」

顯然，以上兩例的翻譯是受到以下英文定義的影響：
If somebody says this, they mean that they have some complaint to make against the person they are addressing.
即使如此，這句成語也絕對沒有挑毛病的意思(譯者甚至沒注意到原文有with me)
劍橋網路辭典的定義是:to want to talk to someone about something annoying they have done
根據這個定義, 在其所舉的例子中,have (or get) a bone to pick with you 的意思就是:有話對…說；
I've got a bone to pick with you - you've been using my shaver again.
有話說，從另一角度來看，就是有意見。所以， 在上面兩例中，have a bone to pick with (sb) 的中文講法一是「對...有話說」，一是「對...有意見」，如:
If she has a bone to pick with a U.S. or foreign official, she will order everyone out of the room and remonstrate in private. 如果她對某位美國或外國官員有意見，她會叫大家出去，然後私下傳達不滿。

英文有用「真」這個字嗎?

本來這件事是不必講這麼多， 直接給答案就行了，但，很多人不知道精準的英文成語翻譯需要做很多功課(包括反覆查閱例句)，不是隨便看個英文定義、翻譯個例句就可竟功，如果不具這樣的學習精神， 想透徹了解英文成語，就很困難。
