這句話，我在粉專提過多次，長期持續追縱的人應該都知道，所以再提，是因為這句話在新聞英文經常使用，國人感到陌生，主要是不常接觸的緣故，再加上錯誤翻譯，大部分學子都不知道它的意思，必須具備正確的認知，才能理解：
gain traction (idiom)
1.獲得認同
His crowds were huge, and the money rolled in, but weeks went by, and he couldn’t get traction. 他的觀眾很多，財源也滾滾而來，但幾星期過去了，他還是得不到認同。
That sentiment has quickly gained traction elsewhere in Europe. 那種看法很快就在歐洲其他地區獲得認同。
2.獲得肯定
Cars made in the USA gain traction abroad. 美國製造的汽車在海外獲得肯定。
3.得到迴響
Unfortunately the advertising campaign just kind of fell on its face and never gained any traction with consumers.不幸的是，這次的廣告活動似乎一敗塗地，始終未能得到消費者迴響。
