「往好處想」英文有兩種說法，即：
1. Count one’s blessings
例：往好處想，妳的心情會更開朗。Count your blessings. I’m sure you’ll feel much better.
2. Look on the bright side
例：大家都應該往好處想，不要擔心未來。
Everybody should look on the bright side and stop worrying about the future.
「好的一面」英文的說法是: The silver lining，如：
Investors have seen a silver lining in most economic reports.投資人在大部分的景氣數據中都看到好一面。
這當然沒爭議，有爭議的是，很多從事英翻中的人，對silver lining的辭義沒有清楚的概念，經常把它翻譯成往好處想，造成混淆，讓學子無所適從，其實，這項認知有無錯誤，很容易可以從下面的例句得到檢驗：
The second silver lining was an early morning report from the CEO. 第二項的好處是執行長的早晨會報。
所以，我們知道，silver lining的基本語意是 1. 好的一面、2. 好處， 不是「往好處想」。
